Director

David Burton

When joining the company in 2004, David brought over thirty years of experience in the Building Services Industry.

Prior to SMW&C, David had been a partner and Manager of a multi discipline Consulting Engineering Practice with offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Indonesia. He was involved in many Commercial and Industrial projects before eventually joining a major Property Development company in Jakarta, Indonesia.

On most of these projects David led the design team covering all Building Services which has resulted in David's high level of coordination skills and a detailed understanding of the requirements of all aspects of Building Services.

David also brings to the company a wealth of experience in major commercial projects and has an excellent understanding of the individual requirements of both Property developers and Property owners.

The specific area where David has developed outstanding skills is with the early identification and resolution of potential problems. All projects have differing levels of complexity. To promptly and accurately identify issues and to act quickly on them greatly assists with the successful completion of a project.

David's SMW&C project involvement covers multi-level apartment projects, retail developments, laboratory fit-outs, central plant upgrade and office buildings.

Director

Shane Wilson

Shane joined SMW&C at the end of 2004 after completing a degree in mechanical engineering with honours at UWA. Since then Shane has gained valuable experience within the building service industry through working closely with the directors on large scale projects and being the project leader on several education and retail projects.

Through work experience and his high work ethic Shane has developed the capability to successfully design, document and supervise projects through to completion. His hard work was rewarded in 2008 when he was elevated to an Associate of SMW&C.

As a testament of his endeavour and attention to detail Shane also took over the QA manager role and has maintained the company's certification to ISO 9001. The QA procedures have ensured that the high standard of documentation and technical specifications that SMW&C are known for will continue to be completed.

Prior to starting with SMW&C, Shane worked as a refrigeration installer and as a part-time designer/draftsman for a multi-discipline consulting engineering practice. With this background of installation and design of mechanical services, Shane has the skill set and background knowledge to provide technical advice regarding most areas of the mechanical building service discipline.

Associate

Alan has in excess of 15 years experience in the mechanical building services industry in both consulting and contracting fields. After being awarded a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Curtin University, Alan began his career with a multidisciplinary consulting engineering practice.

Following five years of mechanical engineering design work, Alan sought practical experience and joined a small but well respected contracting company where his duties encompassed tendering, engineering, worksite supervision and contract management. Alan joined SMW&C in 2001. Alan has a diligent and proactive approach to clients and projects on which he is involved.

He has experience in a wide range of mechanical services design applications including commercial and office buildings, heritage listed buildings, retail outlets, food preparation facilities, supermarkets / shopping centres, health facilities, primary and secondary schools, and industrial & workshop applications.

Alan's specific experience is in the design component of projects. Alan is fully conversant with computer programs for designing air conditioning and ventilation systems, also with codes, regulations and acts applying to the Mechanical Building Services industry.
